Royal Mail delivery fee scam
A Royal Mail delivery fee scam often claims your parcel cannot be delivered until you pay a small charge. The low amount can make the message seem believable.
Example
Royal Mail: Your parcel is being held due to an unpaid delivery fee of 1.49 GBP. Pay now to avoid return to sender: [link]
5 red flags
- It asks for a small payment to release or redeliver a parcel.
- The message arrives unexpectedly or without enough parcel detail.
- The link takes you to a site asking for full card details.
- The page asks for extra information that is unrelated to delivery.
- The message pushes you to act before a deadline or lose the parcel.
What to do now
Treat the message as suspicious until you verify it yourself. Do not pay through the link in the text.
Check your parcel only through Royal Mail's official website or app. If you paid, contact your bank or card provider immediately and explain that you may have used your card on a scam site. Watch for further texts, calls, or emails that try to build on the same scam.
